Online Recovery Support

Healing is a matter of time, but it is sometimes also a matter of opportunity

I'm doing the best to help myself and find help. It's so difficult without insurance. I have to wait a month before I even have orientation for my city's outpatient program. It seems like help is just a joke, and everyone who's supposed to help me is just laughing at me behind my back.

I found this place but it seems like a dead zone. I am the only person online right now. All the other online support communities are just like this one though.

So I don't know; I'm starting to think that nobody will help me but me. And I know it's all up to me in the first place. I'm just so frustrated that for once I'm seeking help, and nobody is helping me. They give me a phone number and all I end up with is 5 more phone numbers. Some of them don't even listen to me. Nobody is taking me seriously and this is such a serious matter. These "professionals" are supposed to at least try to help me. Obviously, my city's Dept. of Human Services is failing miserably.

Funny how this all started with me giving up on myself. Now I'm finally starting to give up on everyone else. I can only depend on myself for once. So I dunno, I'm here. Who knows if this online community will help, but here is my first attempt at trying.

Hi.

There is one online place where there is a lot of action ... it's called "InTheRooms.com"
There is the NA world website www.na.org from which you can find the Region and Area you live in and from there you can find a recovery meeting. At that site you can also download a great deal of recovery literature (in pdf format) for free.
If you call 411 and ask for a listing for "Narcotics Anonymous" you can get the number for a local help-line that can give you recovery meeting times and locations, those meetings are free too.
Your Area may also have a website like this one (that's in my Area) www.ContraCostaNA.org
There is help out there "in real life" and "on-line". If you haven't found it yet, then try some more.
Help was much harder to find back in 1985 when I got clean but I was willing to go to great lengths to learn how to get clean and stay that way ... and it is still working for me. I didn't start out by getting any treatment, I started this by just going to meetings.
Good luck to you in your quest Shane, keep the faith, help is available.

I personaly don't know what to say. I've not had to go through as much as most here.
If there's ANY way to get to a meeting somewhere nearby, you stand a chance of some good face to face.

Hey Shane,
I have almost 32 years sober and have found that going to 12 Step meetings and praying to a source of spiritual strength even if you don't belive there is one, can work for anyone, even without formal treatment. I'll pray you find a spiritual way out as so many have, Jan W

You need to hang in there brother. Nobody is going to do it but "you" only!!! There are many people who have been through much worse and some who have had it easy. If you ever want to chat you can hit me up on my forum at meth-kills.com

Shane I want to welcome you here. Folks come in periodically and with your call for help I hope others hear the need for more participation here. I know that some come and expect it to be like a MySpace or Facebook, but hopefully we can raise the bar and help each other here more. Shane I want you to know that you are wanted and needed here, and if there is anything I can do for you I will. I have not forgotten where I came from and remember the desperation I felt in trying to get and stay clean. Fell free to contact me anytime. I will always return your message. There is hope my friend.
Love and Respect, Bruce M.
