Online Recovery Support

Healing is a matter of time, but it is sometimes also a matter of opportunity

As we walk along our paths of Life, we meet people every day. Most are simply met by chance, while others are sent our way. These become the Special Friends, whose bonds we cannot explain; the ones who understand us, and share our joy and pain. Their love contains no boundaries, so even when apart, their spirits still embrace us, with a warmth felt deep in the heart. This love becomes a passageway, where even the miles between disappear. And the Special Friends Life sends our way, remain forever near.

A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out. -Walter Winchell

It goes without saying that having good, stable friendships is important to your mental health. So how do you know which of your friends are contributing to your health and which are subtly, or not so subtly, undermining it? Most times we know instinctively which people are "good" for us. But sometimes it can be very hard to tell.

We all know people who are cheery, positive, and fun to be with. We feel better when we are in their company. These people can increase our happiness levels on good days, and on the not-so-good days their presence can literally take us out of ourselves and away from our worries, and we feel better for having spoken to them.

I am so lucky to have someone to call me best friend who I cherish every moment I spend with her. She has made me a better person. I will never know how and why we crossed paths. I do know my dear counselor said to never question it. Til this day I have not. I just know I have someone special in my life that I will cherish forever. Thank you for being there for me.
