Healing is a matter of time, but it is sometimes also a matter of opportunity

Ignore Your Recovery, and it Will Go Away....

I saw bumper sticker the other day that said something like this (although nothing to do with recovery) so I changed a couple of the words. As a (chronic?) relapser, I see so much truth in this statement and keep it at the forefront of my mind at all times now as well as written on a piece of paper taped to my bathroom mirror. Sobriety merits 100% of my attention. If I can be fully present, I find that my recovery/sobriety is something that is extremely important. When I get out of myself, into the "world," well, you know where this is going. Comments from others on how they pay attention to recovery and sobriety are welcome and appreciated.

Thank you for the sobering thought. Your writing reminds me of some great spiritual writings that remind us to stay present and stay in the moment. My favorite right now is Eckhart Tolle.

Eckhart Tolle - The Power of Now. Yesterday I put in disk 1 of the audio CD to listen to the whole thing a second time. Wonderful and I recommend it to anyone who wants control of their present.

There have been many blessings for me in my recovery. The kudos, scooby snacks, frosting on the cake, big pay off. Well I was told that by staying grateful for those blessings is important in maintaining the memory of not forgetting where I came from. By not keeping that memory intact I am taking advantage of the gifts I have. They go hand in hand for me. I do not want to be thief today. I am grateful for you all today. Such a blessing of love and support. Bruce
