Healing is a matter of time, but it is sometimes also a matter of opportunity

I'm new to this but know I need to do this. I've lost everything due to drugs, my son, my home and financial and health wise. I'm still working just about but I have now come to a conclusion I need to stop. Been to CA meetings before but to be honest cannot cope with so many people, i've always been like that. If I can crack this I will get to see my son, it's like a circle, where I know what I have to do to get better, but I miss my son so much that I end up doing the thing that is destroying it. This is my first day and hope that I can get loads of inspiration and will power to do this.

I'm kinda new to this as well, 18 days today. I couldn't do CA or AA meetings either but you've made the decision and I found that once I'd made the decision then I could carry on as long as I don't think too far into the future. I really wish you all the best today, I'm sure you'll do it. Think how good you'll feel at the end of the day. It'll be brilliant. I've completely changed my whole lifestyle, changed my diet (which seems to have really helped) and I have even just been for a run for the first time since school 25 years ago. It can be done and you can do it. I'll be egging you on today. :-)

Hi Stewart,

Thanks for your message, it good to know that people actually care even if they don't really know you. I've failed so many times but I will never stop giving up on wanting to be clean. Life on stuff is so unpleasant that even I fail to understand why I continue as I do. Just about got a job but I will end up loosing this if I don't suceed in stopping. I need to just concentrate on a day at time because anything further seems impossible. Congratulations on 18 days, I can't wait to be able to say that! Donna
